The Story of Villa Mayumba

My name is Mayumba.

This name was given to me by the first owners of this house, built in 1967, after a stay in Gabon where they fell under the spell of Mayumba a coastal town nestled between ocean and untamed nature, at the heart of the national park that bears its name.

During the renovation, we wanted to preserve this spirit of escape by weaving a subtle touch of Africa into the soul of the house. The materials, fabrics and decorative choices evoke this heritage with elegance. The terracotta hue is reminiscent of African laterite, while the corten steel used on the exterior extends this natural harmony.

Outside, the garden is an invitation to travel and unwind: Mediterranean citrus trees, a centuries-old olive tree, palm trees, banana plants, thatched huts and a cascading water feature create an environment that truly transports the senses.

Villa Mayumba is today a holiday retreat conceived as a journey within a journey where far-flung inspiration meets the gentle warmth of the Landes.
